I’m a Civil Engineering Technologist with more than 20 years of experience in municipal roads and infrastructure. I’m running an independent campaign, guided by my own values and by what I hear from the residents of Ward 4.
I am not part of a slate, political team, organization, or predetermined voting bloc. No sitting member of council or candidate in another ward signed my nomination papers.
Being independent does not mean working alone. I will collaborate respectfully with every member of council, Township staff, community organizations, and other levels of government whenever it helps deliver better results for Ward 4 and Springwater.
My responsibility is to represent residents, consider every issue on its merits, and make decisions based on evidence, transparency, and the best interests of our community.

Why I Decided to Run
I'm Alex Saldana, a Civil Engineering Technologist with over two decades of hands-on experience in municipal roads, drainage, and public works. From starting my career "on the tools" as a Labourer, to Journeyman Carpenter and working my way to the Project Management side of the industry. My career has been about practical problem-solving, fiscal responsibility, and getting the job done right.
Talking with residents across Ward 4, I kept hearing the same things; concerns about road safety, speeding, drainage, how fast we're growing, recreation for our kids and seniors, and whether council is really listening. I've spent my career identifying community needs, bringing people together, connecting the right people, and helping to move solutions forward. I decided to step forward because I believe Ward 4 deserves someone who listens first, looks at the facts, and then makes decisions based on what's best for the people who live here, not what's best for any individual, organization, or voting bloc.
Through my experience on the tools to my current role in managing and planning municipal projects, I understand both the technical side and the human side of community building. I know what it takes to plan, budget, and deliver the projects that growing communities depend on.
Municipal elections shouldn't be about party or group politics, they're supposed to be about representing residents. I entered this campaign without seeking nominations or endorsements from sitting members of council or other candidates in other wards. That means I don't owe anyone political favours or obligations. Every decision I make will be based on what I believe is in the best interest of Ward 4 residents based on community interaction and feedback.

Aging roads, recurring drainage issues, and traffic safety concerns affect daily life across Ward 4. Speeding on residential roads and unsafe intersections are issues I hear about at nearly every door.
Why It Matters
Safe, well-maintained roads and reliable drainage are the backbone of a livable community. When infrastructure falls behind, residents pay the price in vehicle damage, safety risks, and reduced quality of life.
How I'd Advocate
I’ll advocate for consistent road maintenance schedules, proactive drainage improvements, traffic calming where it’s needed, and long-term asset management planning. My background means I can identify issues early, assess solutions accurately, and make sure upgrades keep pace with growth not behind it.

Responsible Growth
The Problem
New development can sometimes outpace the infrastructure and municipal services needed to support it. As our communities grow, I believe it is important to ensure that roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, parks, transportation connections, emergency access, and other municipal services are ready to support new residents from day one.
Why It Matters
When growth moves ahead before the necessary infrastructure and services are in place, it can create unnecessary pressure on existing residents and reduce quality of life. Careful planning helps protect both new and established neighbourhoods while allowing our community to grow responsibly.
How I'd Advocate
I’ll advocate for responsible growth guided by sound planning and verified servicing capacity. Before new development is approved or before residents move into new neighbourhoods I believe the Township should be confident that the roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation connections, parks, emergency access, and other municipal services needed to support that growth are available or will be in place when they are needed. Growth should be coordinated with infrastructure and services so our community can continue to thrive without placing unnecessary strain on existing residents.

Recreation & Community
The Problem
As Ward 4 grows, recreation and community services need to keep pace with the needs of a changing population from youth programs to opportunities for seniors. Right now, families are looking for more options closer to home.
Why It Matters
Strong communities need spaces and programs that bring people together. Recreation, accessibility, and community facilities directly impact quality of life for every age group.
How I'd Advocate
I’ll support investment in accessible recreation opportunities for youth and seniors, and community facilities that serve the needs of a growing population. Ward 4 residents deserve spaces and programs that strengthen community connections and improve quality of life.

Transparency & Communication
The Problem
Residents often learn about municipal decisions after they’re made. Council communication can be technical, and meeting records aren’t always easy to find or understand. People want to know what’s happening and why.
Why It Matters
Trust between council and residents depends on open, accessible communication. When people understand why decisions are made, they can engage meaningfully in the process.
How I'd Advocate
I’ll advocate for plain-language updates on council decisions, accessible meeting records, and proactive communication about projects affecting Ward 4. Residents deserve to know what’s happening and why, not finding out after the fact.

Fiscal Responsibility
The Problem
Short-term fixes often cost more over time than properly planned investments. Without long-term asset management, reactive repairs replace proactive maintenance and taxpayers foot the bill.
Why It Matters
Every tax dollar should deliver real value. Long-term planning beats patchwork repairs, and residents deserve confidence that their money is spent wisely and transparently.
How I'd Advocate
I’ll support budgets that prioritize value for taxpayer dollars, focus on long-term asset management over patchwork repairs, and ensure spending decisions are grounded in real-world cost analysis. I understand what projects actually cost and where money is best invested.
